Tequila for Margaritas & Classic Cocktails

Explore Drinkero's selection of tequila chosen with cocktails in mind. From bright, fresh Margaritas to colourful Tequila Sunrises, our range focuses on bottles that work particularly well in classic tequila drinks.

What Is Tequila?

Tequila is a Mexican spirit made from Blue Weber agave. Different production and ageing styles create noticeably different flavours, from the fresh agave and citrus character of blanco tequila to the richer, rounder notes found in aged expressions.

Blanco Tequila for Cocktails

Blanco tequila is our preferred starting point for fresh, citrus-forward cocktails. Its clean agave character pairs naturally with lime, orange, grapefruit and cocktail liqueurs without making the finished drink unnecessarily heavy.

It's the style we recommend for classics such as the Margarita, Tequila Sunrise and Paloma.

Our Tequila Choices

For a classic Margarita, our house choice is Espolòn Blanco. Made from 100% Blue Weber agave, it has enough agave character to remain present alongside fresh lime and orange liqueur.

For customers looking for a more refined upgrade, Don Julio Blanco offers another 100% Blue Weber agave option with a crisp, citrus-led profile.

Which Tequila Should You Choose for a Margarita?

For a traditional Margarita, choose a good 100% agave blanco tequila. Blanco keeps the cocktail bright and allows the balance between tequila, orange liqueur and lime to remain clear.

Reposado tequila can also be used, but its ageing introduces a richer character and creates a noticeably different style of Margarita.

Build a Tequila Cocktail Kit

Making tequila cocktails for a group? Start with the cocktail rather than the bottle. Choose your recipe and whether you're making 6, 12, 24 or 48 cocktails, and Drinkero calculates the tequila, mixers and other ingredients you need.
