Chocolate Liqueur for Cocktails

Explore Drinkero's selection of chocolate liqueurs chosen for cocktail making. Rich, smooth and aromatic, chocolate liqueur adds cocoa flavour, sweetness and depth to classic dessert-style cocktails.

Chocolate Liqueur for Cocktail Making

Chocolate liqueur is commonly used in creamy and spirit-forward cocktails where cocoa flavour needs to remain clear without overpowering the base spirit. Traditional cocktail recipes often refer to this style as crème de cacao.

Despite the name, crème de cacao does not usually contain cream. It is a sweet chocolate-flavoured liqueur available in both dark and clear styles.

Classic Cocktails with Chocolate Liqueur

  • Brandy Alexander — Cognac, dark crème de cacao and fresh cream.
  • 20th Century — gin, chocolate liqueur, Lillet Blanc and fresh lemon.
  • Chocolate Martini — vodka combined with chocolate liqueur for a richer dessert-style cocktail.

Our Chocolate Liqueur Choice

For cocktails such as the Brandy Alexander, Drinkero recommends a dark crème de cacao with a clear cocoa character and balanced sweetness. Bols Crème de Cacao Brown is a practical classic choice that works particularly well with Cognac and fresh cream.

Selected for Cocktail Making

Drinkero focuses on chocolate liqueurs that have a clear role in established cocktail recipes. Our choices are selected for cocoa flavour, balance and how well they combine with spirits, cream and citrus.
