What Is Pisco?
Pisco is a South American grape brandy most closely associated with Peru and Chile. It is distilled from wine grapes and is known for its clean, aromatic character, which can range from floral and fruity to dry and structured depending on the grape variety and style.
Pisco for Classic Cocktails
Pisco works particularly well in cocktails where fresh citrus, sweetness and the natural character of the spirit need to stay in balance.
- Pisco Sour — Pisco, fresh lime juice and cane sugar syrup shaken with cocktail foamer and finished with aromatic bitters.
- Chilcano — Pisco, fresh lime and ginger ale served long over ice.
- Pisco Punch — Pisco combined with citrus, pineapple and sweetness for a bright, fruit-forward serve.
- Capitán — Pisco and sweet vermouth stirred into a rich, aromatic cocktail.
Our Pisco Choice
Drinkero recommends Pisco Hermano Puro Quebranta 42% Vol. 0.7 L for a Pisco Sour. Made from Quebranta grapes, its dry, structured character stands up well to fresh lime, cane sugar syrup and aromatic bitters.
Selected for Cocktail Making
Drinkero focuses on Pisco that has a clear purpose in cocktails. We look for expressive bottles with enough grape character and structure to remain present when combined with citrus, syrups and other cocktail ingredients.
